Over the course of four years (1993, 1994, 1995 & 1996), a total of forty (40) issues of Dengeki PC Engine Magazine were published. Dengeki debuted on newsstands in Japan on December 26, 1992 with the February 1993 issue. The PC-Engine console was still very popular in Japan and a healthy stable of magazines, from various publishers, covered the growing library of games and hardware in the PCE (and later, PC-FX) universe. By 1996, however, software support for the nearly 9 year-old PCE was waning, whilst interest in the PC-FX never blossomed beyond niche status (PC-FX's slowly growing library of bishōjo games accounting for a majority of the content of each issue of Dengeki PC Engine at this point). Acknowledging the decline of the PCE/PC-FX market, the final issue of Dengeki was the May 1996 installment. Then, a shift in format birthed Dengeki G's Engine, which no longer focused exclusively on NEC's PCE/PC-FX, but on bishōjo games in general (indeed, the "G" stood for "Gals" and "Games").

Initially, an anthropomorphized female sheep was the mascot of Dengeki PC Engine. She graced the first five covers before being replaced by "Bunny", a more mature anthropomorphized female rabbit. Immediately, the cover artwork featuring "Bunny" shifted to more adult themes (with suggestive poses, more explicit sexuality, and, occasionally, even nudity).
Although "Bunny" was the most visible mascot (the main "spokesperson", so to speak) she was but one member of a larger team of Dengeki mascots who were featured on nearly every cover with her. The cast of sidekicks included: A stoic ox, a smiling gorilla and a shifty boar/warthog/creature(?). NOTE: A boar sidekick was featured with Ms. Fleece in two issues (February & May), but the remaining three covers with Ms. Fleece featured her without any sidekicks.
