Dedicated TurboGrafx-16 Publications (North America)

There were only four publications dedicated exclusively to covering the TurboGrafx-16 in North America: TurboPlay, TurboEdge, TurboForce and DuoWorld. These titles were never available at the newstand: TurboPlay and DuoWorld were available via subscription only, while TurboEdge and TurboForce were mass-mailed to folks who were on NEC's mailing list.

Duo World Magazine (3 Issues, 1993)

Three bi-monthly issues (July/August 1993 - November/December 1993) of DuoWorld Magazine were published by Larry Flynt Publications (L.F.P.). The first issue of DuoWorld was 32 pages and shared editorial staff (and format!) with two sister L.F.P. magazines: TurboPlay Magazine (see below) and Video Games & Computer Entertainment (VG & CE). The second and third issue of DuoWorld, however, were only 16 pages apiece and followed the revamped format (and editorial staff) of L.F.P.'s short-lived Video Games Magazine. Δ

Turbo Force Magazine (4 issues, 1992-1993)

Four quarterly issues (32 pages, Summer 1992 - Spring 1993) of TurboForce Magazine were published by Sendai Publications. Sendai was responsible for Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM), but the look, feel and format of TurboForce did not ape the the layout of EGM. In additon to mass mailing, the first issue of TurboForce was available as a pack-in with TTi's TurboDuo console and served as a primer to the TG-16 universe, including tips and strategy guides for the Duo's pack-in games. Turbo Play Magazine (14 Issues, 1990-1992)

The first issue of TurboPlay Magazine debuted in June of 1990.  TurboPlay was a spin-off publication of Video Games & Computer Entertainment (VG & CE), a popular multi-platform gaming magazines of the late 1980's / early 1990's. Ultimately, 14 issues of TurboPlay (bi-monthly, 32 pages, June 1990 - August 1992) were published, making it the most successful of the four dedicated TG-16 titles. Δ
