CAVES OF TITAN…

The Caves of Titan Poster (2600x1636 .jpg) ▼ actually debuted in last month's issue, but I was distracted by NEC's ostensibly odd decision to highlight Adventure Quiz and The Manhole as a tactic for promoting the CD•ROM2 format. Well, here we are, a month later, with NEC running the exact same advertisement…

VOLCANIC ACTIVITY: Scientists will continue to speculate about whether or not Titan has active volcanoes. PCE fans, of course, know that the PCE was birthed on Titan (Jupiter's largest moon) and soared across the cosmos to Mars (making a pitstop at Earth along the way). Yes, this is the narrative I have concocted to weave together NEC's advertising campaigns…

The Caves of Titan campaign was used for four consecutive months (February-May 1991), with only one meaningful change midway (when a new set of games were highlighted in the ad). Of the three variations of this ad (which spanned nearly a year, beginning in July 1990 and ending in May 1991), I enjoyed Deserts of Mars, the most. Sadly, this ad only appeared once (in November 1990).
