Occasionally, Japanese audiences received updates on how the PC-Engine (rebranded as TurboGrafx-16) was faring across the Pacific. In the Top Ten section of this issue of Gekkan PCE, readers learned that Makyou Densetsu (localized as The Legendary Axe in North America) earned 1989's "Video Game of the Year Award" from Video Games & Computer Entertainment. VG&CE was a popular, respected multi-platform magazine during the late 80's/early 90's, so its praise carried more weight than the average publication.
